News: Groups Move To Achieve Zero Election Violence

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Association of Licensed Private Security Practitioners of Nigeria (ALPSPN) and Real Strikers Security Services Limited (RSSSL) have planned a collaborative effort to end violence before and after 2015 general election.

Speaking at a press briefing yesterday to unveil plans for a nationwide awareness campaign and seminar, the Managing Director of RSSL, Dr. Joseph Ameh said it was time to value lives and properties of Nigerian citizens.

The security expert said the seminar, with the theme: ‘There is life after election. It is your life, save it for another election,’ is targeted at achieving zero election-related violence this year and beyond.

Ameh bemoaned the fact that the failure of the political class to provide leadership or legitimate intervention that could forge political tolerance has made various interest groups in the country to become negatively oriented and radicalised.
He said its organization has seen the need to host a nationwide campaign and seminar as part of its contribution to ensure a peaceful election later this month.

The seminar, which would be held in Lagos, Abuja and Port-Harcourt, is expected to train participants on electoral violence, political violence prevention and homeland security measures.
