Los Angeles - Hugh Jackman has suffered a vocal haemorrhage.
The 46-year-old actor has been forced to cancel the remaining dates of his one-man show, An Evening with Hugh Jackman, in Istanbul, Turkey, this week after blood vessels on his left vocal chord burst.
He did however, promise disappointed fans he will be rescheduling the dates on Twitter.
The Wolverine actor had been due to perform a total of four gigs - featuring improvisations, musical pieces and highlights from Broadway shows - at the Zorlu Center.
Ahead of the first show, on Tuesday, the Australian actor - who has children Oscar, 14, and Ava, nine, with wife Deborra-Lee Furness - spoke of his ties to the country.
He said: "My great-grandfather lived here. He spent his life here working at a bank in Istanbul. My father ... he always says you're sort of part Turkish somewhere. Maybe that's why I love the coffee so much."
And he also reminisced about a holiday he and his wife took to Turkey, where they stayed in a $25-a-night hotel and endured a 18-hour bus ride to the Southern coast.
He recalled: "My wife and I came here shortly after we were married."
